It turned into a beautiful autumn day, with lots of sunshine and hardly any wind. Ranjit looked gorgeous in his black suit, and Wee Yin (Mandee) was radiant in her beautiful wedding gown. Mandee and Ranjit had made 1000 paper cranes and strung them in the trees from fishing wire. The effect was stunning. Mandee was ‘given away’ or ‘presented’ by her very proud father. It was a really nice ceremony and I was very pleased that I met this lovely couple and was fortunate enough to be their celebrant. There is nothing wrong with having your wedding in your backyard. You can dress it up, and make it look very nice, as Mandee and Ranjit did. It was a lovely relaxed ceremony.

Very good friends of mine, Jan and Mick, asked if I would mind be the Master of Ceremonies at the launch of Mick’s steam boat. It is a replica of the 1875 Fantail Launch Design Steam Boat. Mick spent 5 long years, loving building this beautiful boat.

Mick's SS Emma Madeline

Jan had gone all out for her husband, she arranged the sign below, as a surprise.

The sign Jan had made as a surprise for Mick

Jan had also arranged a sausage sizzle, with, a cake. Apparently the picture on the cake is made from rice paper and is edible.

This cake was simply delicious

This wonderful steam boat is named after Jan and Mick’s two granddaughters, Emma and Madeline, their five grandsons have not been forgotten, Tom, Jack, Brady, George, and Riley have their names, or will have, their names written somewhere special on the boat.

It was a great morning, and I was honoured to be the Master of Ceremonies. If you need a Celebrant in Perth, or a Master of Ceremonies, do not hesitate to contact me.

Paul & Tara

Paul and Tara (Mr and Mrs Kendall) were married at 3.15 pm, Saturday 7th April 2012. It was Tara’s birthday as well! About 20 family and friends had flown from England and Scotland to attend the wedding. Tara and Paul had wanted a venue that was different than anything they could find in England, and they couldn’t have chosen a better venue. Their marriage ceremony was held amongst the trees at Yanchep National Park.

Tara looked stunning, she is petite and beautiful. The gown she chose suited her perfectly. Paul was very handsome in his grey suit, as were his two grooms-men his father and step-father.

Paul and Tara with their wedding party, during their marriage ceremony

Tara chose red for her bridesmaids, and with Yanchep National Park the backdrop, they looked really lovely. The red added colour to the green of the park. Their bouquets were white lilies. I think the red, white and grey of the bridal party gave it an overall look of elegance.

Tara and Paul's bridesmaids were Tara's sister Shona, and Paul's two sisters Emma and Kate.

Tara and her mother made the most beautiful and unusual bouquet that I have ever seen. The photo does not do it justice. It is something she will have forever, and will be able to put it on display in their home.

Tara and her mother made this very unusual, stunning bouquet.

The Marriage of Robert and Dawn

It was a beautiful warm Autumn day. Robert and his Grooms-man Joel were waiting in the Gazebo. Dawn alighted from the Limousine at the top of the path. She walked down the path, and was given away by her brother, Karl, who had flown from Malaysia for the occasion.

Dawn and Robert's wedding at the Brookland Green Gazebo

Dawn looked stunning in a strapless wedding gown. Her hair, make-up and jewellery were understated and suited her perfectly. Robert and Dawn wrote their own vows, they had obviously written them from their heart. The vows had all of us in tears, they were so beautiful.

A very happy Dawn and Robert during their marriage ceremony.

Robert’s family flew over from Queensland for the occasion. Dawn’s brother flew from Malaysia for the wedding and he took the photos, except for the time he was giving his sister away. It was a beautiful day, the ceremony was happy and joyful.

First a Memorial for Beau

The ceremony started with a Memorial for Nigel and Lisa’s son, Beau, who sadly passed away the day he was born. He was their middle child, but although he has passed, he is remembered every day within this family. He is spoken about and he is a much loved part of their lives. I am sure their initial pain was immense, and almost unbearable, but over the past four years they learned how to live with it, and how to include their son into their daily lives.

This family has certainly taught me something about grieving and how to include those who pass on into your daily life. This is a wisdom that I will certainly pass onto others.

Lisa and Nigel have two beautiful daughters who they obviously cherish and love without reservation. They chose a poem by Helen Steiner Rice, to express their feelings towards their two beautiful daughters. It also expresses how they feel as parents.

Nigel, Lisa, Lola and Nixi

To Our Child

A parent’s love is something that no one can explain

It is made of deep devotion, sacrifice, and pain.

It is endless and unselfish, and enduring, come what may,

For nothing can destroy it or take it away.

It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking,

And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking.

It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns.

And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems.

It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation,

And it still remains a secret like a mystery of creation.

A many splendid miracle man cannot understand,

A special wondrous evidence of life’s tender guiding hand.

Some of my words I said as the Celebrant at the ceremony, Kathryn “In human history there is no more moving reflection than that of a young child’s relationship with their parents. It is in this context and to express the beauty of this relationship that Nigel and Lisa have chosen to make their promises as parents, accepting their responsibilities to Lola and Nixi, and expressing their love for them and their hopes for their future.”

Lisa reading her vows to her children, Lola and Nixi with myself, Kathryn

Parents Vows

“We are your parents and we will care for you.

We promise to show you the adventure of life.

We promise to open our hearts fully to your love.

We promise to teach you about joy and laughter.”

We promise to embrace your hopes and dreams.

We will love you unconditionally.

We promise to guide you, respect you and to protect you.

Grandparents also make vows to their grandchildren.

Nigel, Lola, their respective parents with Lola and Nixi

It was a very moving ceremony, with a release of balloons at the end of it. Four blue balloons for their son, and pink ones for their daughters. I wish this amazing family all the very best for their future together.

The weather was perfect, the location was superb; near the lakes at Joondalup Resort, and it had been decorated beautifully by the staff and the florist Jo-Anne McNamara. The flower girl and ring boy were first in the procession, followed by the bridesmaids, Pricilia and Nora, Sheila was escorted by her son, Aaron.

Dave waited with his grooms men, Ted and Trevor. Aaron presented his mother, to be married to Dave. It was a lovely moment and overall it was a beautiful ceremony.

Dave and Sheila had chosen to have a Rose ceremony and a Sand Ceremony, straight after the Marriage and Ring vows. These are wonderful, visual representations of the joining of the couple. However, you can, as Sheila and Dave did, have two members of each family join them and then it is the joining of the two families, not just the couple.

The came the signing of the Marriage Register.
